Minimal weddings

Minimal weddings by manfler, the family wedding florist in Crete since 1978: ten weddings in Crete and Santorini, newest first, each with its venue, planner and photographer.

A bride with a short dark bob, seen from behind in an off-shoulder ivory gown with a long flowing train, gazes toward a rugged concrete hall lit by warm spotlights. On the left, a long table laid for a wedding dinner runs beneath a large glowing peach-coloured flower-shaped lantern, with clusters of white blooms and tall candles in glass vases and clear chairs. This wedding table setting is in Rethimno, Crete, Greece.

A bride in a strapless white satin gown with covered buttons down her back walks across a sweep of green lawn toward a round dark-green platform. On it stand tall sculptural arrangements of white draped fabric and clusters of green-and-burgundy hydrangeas, with a spiky green foliage piece and two young trees beside them. This wedding flower installation at Roxani Estate in Greece has a calm, garden-like mood, shot from above.

A bride and groom embrace closely on a white draped platform beneath a tall, white fabric arch at a wedding at Gramvousa Restaurant in Greece. He wears a cream suit and suede shoes, and she wears a white gown with ruffled organza skirts and a soft puffed sleeve, her eyes closed as she leans into him. Surrounding them are green foliage, feathery grasses, and cream dahlias in the foreground, with a hillside and distant sea under a soft blue sky.

Two tall, cascading mounds of pink hydrangeas and deep rose-red blooms flank a small gold-legged table holding a cross, candles and a glass carafe, all set on a tiered orange stage on a green lawn at Crete Golf Club in Crete, Greece. Smaller low clusters of hot pink roses and pale pink hydrangeas sit at the stage's front corners, and in the warm late-afternoon light, the whole wedding ceremony setup glows against the dry brown hills behind.

A bride in a white satin gown with a thigh-high slit raises a white bouquet of roses and eucalyptus high in one hand while holding hands with a groom in a white dinner jacket and black bow tie. They walk along a white aisle lined with tall white delphinium and hydrangea, with clear acrylic chairs beyond and the sea and distant hills under a soft cloudy sky, at Cavo Ventous, a wedding venue in Greece.

A long wedding dining table under a draped white canopy at Cycladic Gem in Greece, dressed with low centrepieces of white hydrangeas, white roses and green anthurium. Tiered crystal chandeliers hang above, and cream chairs with gold-rimmed backs line the table, which is set with green-rimmed plates and candlelit glassware. Beyond the olive trees, the sea glimmers in the soft evening light.

A bride in a voluminous satin ballgown with a long train and a low chignon stands forehead to forehead with her groom in a dark suit, on a glass platform above an infinity pool at sunset. Large white hydrangea and white stock arrangements line the edge of the pool, and the sea and distant hills glow gold behind them at Aenaon Villas, a wedding and event florist setup in Greece.

A bride and groom stand side by side under an arch of pale blue, feathery foliage dotted with white roses, with a heap of white roses spilling across the floor at each side, at a wedding at Aenaon Villas in Greece. He wears a white dinner jacket with a black bow tie and dark sunglasses, and she wears a fitted, sparkling gown with a lace-edged veil that trails behind her, holding a white rose bouquet. Hazy sea and cliffs fill the background, giving the scene a soft, airy calm.

A mirrored welcome sign on a wooden easel reads "Welcome to our wedding" with "Shay and Vedad" in large white lettering, and through the glass a blurred photograph of a bride in a fitted white gown and long veil kissing her groom in a cream suit, holding a loose bouquet of white roses and green foliage. This wedding sign is at Villa Imperial in Greece, set against a plain white wall.

A joyful wedding recessional at Villa Amnalys in Greece, where the bride, in a fitted lace gown with a tiered train, raises a white orchid and baby's breath bouquet overhead while the groom in a white dinner jacket holds her hand. White petals drift through the air and carpet the black aisle, flanked by clear glass candle vases and guests in green and black formal wear, many smiling and applauding under a bright blue sky.
